In New Orleans Airport a TSA Official followed proper current screening procedures on a child, who visibly and audibly complains, “I don’t want to do this”. Is it necessary for a 6-year-old child to be pat down by TSA Officials, even if there’s no reason to suspect her or her parents of being criminals?

In TSA’s defense, there may be a chance that some horrible parent or adult will use a child to perform illegal acts. Although a pat down is uncomfortable, it is necessary in some instances. TSA explains they “have been actively reviewing its screening policies and procedures to streamline and improve the screening experience for low-risk populations, such as younger passengers.”

Most air travelers will walk through Metal Detectors and others may choose to use the Full Body Scanners, if they are available. There are only 69 Airports that have Full Body Scanners. Otherwise, fly by private jet charters and you will not have to deal with any of this treatment!
